Highlights for Children is teaming up with the Scripps National Spelling Bee for the 2023-2024 school year to inspire kids in thousands of schools across the country to develop a love of reading and the exploration of words.
This marks the first time the two legacy brands have partnered together. Schools that participate in the spelling bee program will receive a digital Highlights or High Five magazine to provide to students alongside the spelling bee study lists, competition guides and supplemental resources the Bee develops annually for schools.
Kent Johnson, Highlights CEO, says, “Our content and experiences have always focused on nurturing and developing the whole child, and we’re excited that through our partnership with the Bee, our magazines can help even more kids become curious, creative, caring and confident.”
Through Highlights and High Five magazines, kids experience award-winning content made entirely for them that is packed with original, imaginative, memorable and safe content that parents and teachers can trust, feel good about and enjoy sharing with the special child in their lives. Hours of fun await to explore with wonder and curiosity, all while building confidence.
Corrie Loeffler, executive director of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, said, “Highlights and the Scripps National Spelling Bee have separately brought delight to literacy and learning for generations of American children – myself included! Now, joining forces, we can’t wait to bring Bee participants and their families access to enriching Highlights content.”
“Bringing our two brands together in this powerhouse partnership helps us mutually realize a vision of reaching kids with fun content that matters, in an educational environment, and in a meaningful manner,” adds Sarah Hooks, Highlights Director of Global Content.
