Highlights announces the promotion of Mary-Alice Moore

Highlights announces the promotion of Mary-Alice Moore, to serve as President of the Highlights for Children Consumer Business. This appointment reflects a strategic move to leverage Mary-Alice’s leadership at the company over the past 15 years and fully tap into her deep understanding of the business, mission, brand, and philosophy to grow the business and further its positive impact on families' lives.

In her time at Highlights, Moore has been an integral part of leading and shaping our brand and business vision. She oversaw the development of our first-ever all-puzzle magazine, brainPLAY, and she launched and ran our bestselling branded book publishing and retail products initiatives. Most previously, Moore served as Executive Vice President, Product Development and Strategy responsible for the development of a strategic roadmap for the Highlights Consumer Business that integrates channel, product, and audience strategies.

Before her long and impactful tenure at Highlights, Moore served as a children’s bookseller and has led editorial and marketing functions at HarperCollins Publishers, Scholastic, North-South Books, and others.

“We will continue to benefit from Mary-Alice’s pragmatic and analytical approach to problem-solving, creativity, action-oriented leadership style, and her deep appreciation of the challenges and joys of childhood,” said Kent Johnson, CEO of Highlights for Children. “She brings the exact experience and is a passionate and intentional advocate for children, for families, and for the importance of helping children become their best selves—at home, at school, and all the places in between.”

"Highlights has a long history of inspiring children, and I couldn't be more excited to move into the role of President. More than ever, today’s kids deserve fun, engaging experiences that celebrate childhood, and one thing I’ve learned in my 15 years at Highlights is there’s no better brand to deliver them.

In her new role, Moore will report to Highlights CEO Kent Johnson.
