Highlights for Children is donating thousands of their award-winning magazines to support Save the Children’s Make Summer Fair campaign, an initiative to provide resources and educational support for kids living in poverty and in rural America.
For millions of children living in poverty, especially in rural America, summer doesn’t mean camps or library visits. It means long days without books to read, places to go or chances to learn. That lack of access can set kids back, both academically and emotionally.
Save the Children’s Make Summer Fair campaign helps level the playing field by delivering hands-on learning kits, books, nutritious meals and safe play-based programs to children and families nationwide. The goal is simple: help every child have a summer full of learning, fun and growth.
Highlights is donating thousands of High Five and Highlights magazines to the Make Summer Fair campaign. Each issue is built to spark curiosity and a love of reading through the stories, puzzles and activities within the magazine.
“Everything we create is grounded in our mission to help children become their best selves,” said Kent Johnson, CEO at Highlights. “Childhood is an essential time of growth, imagination and discovery, and every child deserves the opportunity to experience it fully. Partnering with Save the Children allows us to extend that mission to the kids who need it most, ensuring that learning and joy don’t stop when school ends. Together, we're working to make summer fair for all children—because a summer filled with laughter, exploration and possibility shouldn't be a privilege, but a right.”
Highlights invites parents, educators and caregivers to join in making summer fair for every child. Here's how:
